Free LAS & LAZ viewer

Online LiDAR point cloud viewer

Open a LAS or LAZ file in 3D in seconds: true colour, elevation, classification and intensity, with its coordinate system, extent and density. No account, and your file stays on your computer.

Drop a .las or .laz file here

Opened in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Any LAS or LAZ file (v1.0–1.4) · LAZ up to 1.8 GB · RGB, classification, intensity

Nothing is uploaded

The file is read on your computer, inside the browser. It never reaches a server, so client data and unreleased surveys stay where they are.

Four ways to colour

True colour from the scan's RGB, an elevation ramp, the ASPRS classes with their share of the points, or return intensity.

Know the file at a glance

Point count, LAS version and point format, the coordinate system from the header, extent, area, elevation range and point density.

How to open a LAS or LAZ file online

  1. 01

    Drop the file

Drag a .las or .laz file onto the page, or click Choose a file. No account and no install.

  2. 02

    Wait a few seconds

The points are decoded in the background. A 450 MB LAZ with 50 million points opens in under half a minute.

  3. 03

    Look around

Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, right-drag to pan. Switch to top view, change the colouring or go full screen.

Turn the point cloud into deliverables

Upload the same file to LiDAR Processor and get contour lines as DXF for AutoCAD, a bare-earth DEM as GeoTIFF and a classified point cloud. Free for 50 ha a month, no card needed.

Questions

How do I open a LAS file without installing software?

Drop it on this page. The viewer runs in any current desktop browser with WebGL (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and shows the point cloud in 3D within seconds. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Is my point cloud uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read by your own browser and stays on your computer. Closing the tab clears it from memory.

What is the difference between LAS and LAZ?

LAS is the standard file format for LiDAR point clouds, published by ASPRS. LAZ holds exactly the same data compressed without loss, usually 5 to 10 times smaller. The viewer opens both.

Which LAS versions and point formats are supported?

LAS 1.0 to 1.4, which covers every version in use, and point formats 0 to 10, including the RGB and the extended classification of LAS 1.4.

How large a file can I open?

Uncompressed LAS files of several gigabytes open, since only the points shown are kept in memory. LAZ files open up to 1.8 GB: decompression needs the whole file in the browser's memory. Up to 10 million points are drawn, picked evenly across the file, so the whole survey stays visible.

Does it read the coordinate system?

Yes. The coordinate system is read from the file header (GeoTIFF keys or WKT) and shown with its EPSG code. The viewer shows the points in that system; it does not reproject them.

Can I get contour lines or a DEM from my LAS file?

Not in the viewer, but LiDAR Processor does it in the cloud: contour lines as DXF, a bare-earth DEM as GeoTIFF and a classified point cloud. The free plan covers 50 ha a month with files up to 500 MB.
